Adopt A Barangay Program

In response to Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) which devastated many islands in the Philippines last November 2013, YWAM Philippines is taking part in Adopt A Barangay Project in the city of Bogo, in northern Cebu. This is in response to the Lord's direction to YWAM Philippines Leadership Team to focus on the need for long term rebuilding. The Adopt A Barangay Project is a community based rehabilitation plan designed by the Bogo City government to directly address the rehabilitation needs of the communities recovering from the Yolanda disaster. The program has identified 4,000 families as the most vulnerable and priority beneficiaries of the rebuilding and relocation component of the program.

The Bogo City government has provided the land for building the homes and YWAM has pledged to build 100 homes, a school, community center and a clinic. An earth block machine has been purchased from South Africa to make bricks to be used for building the homes. A ground-braking ceremony was held July 01, 2014 on the land provided.

How to Get Involved:

Volunteer: Join a team alongside families building a new future! We live it up to you if you want to stay for a week or a month. For more information please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Adopt a Family through giving each month or once a year: Get regular updates from your adopted families in the following areas: House construction – each time you give, see the family's house built little by little as your support makes a difference. Family matters – whether it is children going back to school or parents learning new livelihood skills, you can put a face to your giving and stay in touch with your adopted family on a personal level. YWAM commits to keep you updated until the family's house is completed. If you would like to continue communication with the family after the house has been completed then all the better.

Pray: We know the of being covered with the prayers of God's people from all over the world. We appreciate if you could remember to pray for this huge endeavor that God has entrusted to us. We need His wisdom, grace, strength and provision to build a model community that will bless the beneficiaries, encourage the local government partners and be a kingdom prototype for future projects.

Connect Us With People: Our heart is to see not just houses built but livelihood programs established. We hope to provide a good school for the children, a community center as a gathering place for families to meet and worship together, a clinic for the community to receive medical care and a basketball court and open spaces for other leisure activities. With all our plans we need to connect with people who have the heart and expertise to serve. Did someone come to mind? Le us know by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Give: A huge project equals huge expenses. We believe we serve a big God who can do great things! If God is placing on your heart to give, any amount would be a huge step in helping fulfill the vision. We can all make a difference in the lives of the poorest of the poor as we partner together to meet this need.
